Slammed on the breaks on my way home from work, and made a hard left to catch these two standing in front of Tower Records, carrying that signature Yellow-red-orange bag. From quickly chatting Sarah and Tyler up from atop my bike, they gladly agreed to a photo, and told me they were cousins traveling together to Japan, from their home in Vancouver, on a trip they’d been planning for years, adding that after a few more days in Tokyo, they’d be heading to Kyoto to rendezvous with yet more family! Well, done team!
From their vinyl Tower Records bag, they produced two albums, one on wax, the other on CD. They had the Nujabes / Fat Jon – Samurai Champloo Music Record – Departure, which was just featured on TRS a few days ago when I made a photo of Juan and Yvette from LA. What’s interesting is that they bought this record as a gift for a friend or a family member back home, just as Juan and Yvette had mentioned doing. So TWO Nujabes’ records are being expatriated from Japan overseas as gifts! The world gets smaller through music! YES! …and a Fujii Kaze record that they raved about. Haven’t heard this artist so keen to give him a listen! Music knowledge expanded!
Nice meeting you guys! Safe travels and enjoy the rest of your time in Japan! See you someday in Vancouver!
