While photographing PechaKucha Night Tokyo, I met a fan of Tokyo Record Style, Igor. During the beer break, a mutual friend who happened to be presenting that night about motorcycles, another hobby of mine, and who makes a cameo in the 3rd photo of this series – notice the surprised face (Hi Xuan!) – introduced us, mentioning that Igor was following and enjoying the project. That’s nice!

On the job, I only had a few minutes to chat with Igor but he told me a story that, now two weeks later, I’m a little fuzzy on, but about an album that he loved deeply, I believe an all-time favorite, a album that led with a jazz version of the Beatles masterpiece, A Day in Life. I remember telling me that the album, which he didn’t own one vinyl got him through a challenging moment in life, and right when things were the toughest, a good friend of his, without knowing how much he loved the album, gifted to him on vinyl. The gift of music is an amazing thing! Igor could not sing the praises enough of this record! Just as interested and keen on knowing the records as I was, was Igor interested in being photographed for Tokyo Record Style. While he was searching for the record’s title and cover on his phone to make sure I could know about it, not actually having the record with him for having no reason to bring it out of his flat, I was thinking to myself “Had he the record with him, I absolutely would have made his pho…
