R＆B、ソウルで最高のサックス奏者と言えるキング・カーティスのキャピトル時代のシングルやアルバム収録曲を集めたものです。エンジョイというレーベルでSoul Twistのヒットを出した彼ですが、このCDにもちょっとアップテンポのオルガンが一寸出しゃばっている再録音のものが入っています。ヒットしたSoul Serenadeを始め、自作曲とジェームス・ブラウン、レイ・チャールズ、サム・クックといったR＆B、ソウルの巨人のやっていた曲もカバーしたりしていますが、メジャーの会社での録音だけにスタジオの空気感とエコーの心地よさがなんとも素晴らしいです。何にも増してキング・カーティスのサックスのカッコよくてうまくて楽し気でこ難しくないのが最高です。

An excellent collection of the King’s Capitol sides at the height of the twist craze! Out of print but Capitol has reissued an expanded version.

Great record but several skips
Was very disappointed to find the second side skips in several places. I was unable to correct it on this brand new vinyl. Side 1 sounds amazing but not enough to offset the unlistenable side 2. Was not expecting this from a brand new record. Q
