今までGRADOは「低音が出ない」「高級アンプでないと高音が刺さる」と聞いていたため、避けてきたのだが新ドライバーによってそこが改善されたらしいので購入。流石にスマホ直差しでは迫力不足を感じたが、刺さることは無かった。Walkman A55でも同様だが多少音場が広くなった。アナログアンプで聴いてみたところ音の定位がしっくりするようになった。デジタルアンプが個人的に1番好きな音を出した。オペアンプ交換をし最終的にOPA627AUがベストになった。ボーカルには艶がありシャウトするとドライに変わりヤバいエリアに達するギリギリで抜けていく。全く低音不足は感じられなかった。今まで買ってきたどのヘッドホンよりもハイテンションで迫力のあるロックを聴ける。スピード感といい高域の伸びといい今まで体験したことの無い気持ちよさGRADOの比較対象はGRADOだけってか？装着感は悪いが上位モデルはヘッドバンドがクッションじゃないため、こちらの方が多少良いと言えるだろう。ぜひ、私と同じ理由でGRADOを避けてきた方はこの機会に買ってみてはいかがでしょうか？

This one’s the most bass sound of grado.Comparison, I had senheiser hd650 was bass awesome but always muffled.And have b&o h9 is very nice & clear sound but sometime clipping . Probably for only music no matter.Finally, 225 is clear sound and no clipping. So I choose 225 for cinema! And cheapest of mine!

I really wanted to like these, but…
I already have and love the Grado sound with my SR60e’s, yet had wanted for a while to try the SR225x’s to see if they would improve on that as much as the reviews suggested – but sadly for me they didn’t. With headphone choice always being a matter of personal taste and reviews being largely subjective, I went into listening to these with these with an open mind, yet wasn’t rewarded with the sound I’d hoped to hear and had to return them. Yes the expected increase in detail over the SR60e’s was there in abundance and the soundstage did appear wider, but I hadn’t anticipated the sound being as warm as it appeared to my ears, a warmth that I felt reduced the liveliness of my listening – even when EQ settings were being tweaked. In short, they gave me much less fun than my SR60e’s. I’d also echo the comment made elsewhere on here that even after adjusting the headband for my head size the pads supplied are uncomfortable to wear with glasses, although swapping the pads helped – albeit at the expense of the sound – and not in a good way. I accept that others will love these, but for me they were a disappointment.

Probably not worth it over the 60s or 80s but good nonetheless and I have enjoyed them for critical listening.

Disappointing
I write this as I listen to my new SR325x and they are better than the SR225x in every way. I purchased the 225’s with the expectation of being an improvement on my old SR80e, but they just don’t have the same excitement or musicality, even with a couple of days use. There’s nothing especially wrong with them, they just don’t have the Grado sound for me. Having a largish head also makes them uncomfortable and ironically it’s the padded headband that causes issues. I have to use them on the largest setting and am constantly readjusting them to stay in place. My advice is pay the bit extra and go for the 325’s – straight out of the box and there’s the umistakeable sound I first experience nearly 10 years ago, and it’s really no suprise that they win so many awards.
