Hisashi (and Setsu)

Hello Hisashi and little Setsu-chan, cute father/daughter combo who I met at Physical Store – Organic Music + Planet Baby in Shimo Igusa. These two were decked in full weekend regalia – I really loved Hisashi’s glasses which had flip-up shades that only covered ¾ of the frame when down which I don’t think I had ever seen before. And he had a killer colorful “Meet Beat” shirt on too with its illustrated music heads all over it. I also caught out of the corner of my eye that was rocking some understated black leather Jack Purcell “Black Tips” maybe, and a few other nonchalant accessories that said so much with so little. It made for a perfect ensemble to wear to the record store.

Hisashi’s daughter, besides still having all her baby teeth, (with which she could keep up pretty well in my standard-issue imaginary-microphone interview that I conduct every new Japanese kid I meet – “What’s your name?” “How old are you” “Where in the whole world do you want to go?”), she was also sporting a pretty-alright, effortlessly cool striped tee, “ART COLLEGE 1911″ – Nice, Setsu – VINTAGE! …And a pretty darn cute canvas shoulder bag in one of my favorite colors of faded green, replete with an omamori charm no doubt from the local shrine, a little friendship bracelet, and a lovely-looking knot tying off the strap to make it kid-size. And rawking those bangs HARD! She had it going on. And with her cool dad, sporting records in tow, just chillin’ together between the Organic Music and Planet Baby, they were both proper Tokoites! And you can just tell from their smiles that they were quite a pair.

Hisashi scored some gems by the looks of it here, records that look highly intriguing but that I haven’t had a chance to listen to yet. I’ll get to them soon – grateful to have some music I’ve never heard to look forward to!

Great to meet you guys and witness your smiles for these photos and happy vibes! See you back out there again someday. More Tokyo Record Style on the way!
