STOP THE WORLD AND LET THEM ON
I have read many reviews of this album – each inaccurate and unfairly judging them because they did not fit into the classic “Motown Sound.” Well in reality, I would put them in the same league as The Originals and the Fantastic Four – great harmonies, several lead singers and an ability to tackle any song and make it their own. I first had this album when it was released in 1971 and when I lost it, I searched far and wide until (thanks to Amazon) I got it again. Though, like most of the other Motown artists on the VIP label, they remained largely unknown to the general public, the Hearts of Stone were, by no means, short on talent. You will love “It’s A Lonesome Road”, “If I Could Give You The World”, “One Day”, “Yesterday’s Love Is Over” and their takes on “Rainy Night in Georgia”, “Thank You Faletinme Be Mice Elf Agin” and “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy.” Now if I could only get their more recent release with the reconstructed group . . .
