Despite only brandishing a sticker from the event that Tokyo Record Style Day Vol. 9 piggy-backed on, Physical Store (Organic Music + Planet Baby)’s 5th Anniversary and neighbor Bar Otonari’s 1st Anniversary, it’s great to see long-time support friend of Tokyo Record Style (and other related photography projects), ex Disk Union staff, and reggae music aficionado Yusya (AKA bangsadali) from Indonesia and Illinois back on the on the stream! As much as we’d all like to, we can’t score record EVERY time we go to the record store; sometimes you strike out. But considering everybody CAME out, proving that Tokyo Record Style Day is more than just records, it’s Tokyo, it’s friends, it’s fashion, it’s community …and this was especially true for Yuysa who came from FAR across Tokyo to get to this little obscure neighborhood off the Seibu Line and celebrate the occasion with us, I couldn’t let him (or fellow striker-outers Marcus and Maki from the previous post) escape without a photo to at least commemorate the occasion! Yusya, being a good sport and quick to think of his toes busted out the sticker that Physical Store had give to each of us for the occasion, so don’t mistake what Yusya is holding for a teeny tiny record (although that beg the question, have you seen the little Technics 1200s, mixers, and records you can get in the Gacha-Gacha / Gachapon Toy Capsule machines around Tokyo? …SO CUTE AND COOL! …um …just like Yusya!)
Ok, I’m reaching here, squeezing water from a stone, and will sign off on this one and hope that the next time I connect with Yusya, he’ll have some crazy record (like the Patto he scored on the 1st Tokyo Record Style Day ever that he attended with much of the same crew in Shimokitazawa over a year ago! Whoa that record melted my face off.)
Great to see you, Yusya! Better luck next time which I’m most looking forward to! Until then, take care, pal!
More Tokyo Record Style on the way!
