First Tower Records spotting, at Shibuya Crossing! I caught up with Anthony and his wife walking along after what looked like a nice little shopping spree! I initiated a conversation in Japanese, wrongly assuming Anthony was Japanese but when we looked at me a little sideways, not completely understanding, he pulled back his mask revealing a giant and friendly smile, me having been to the “Land of Smiles” instantly suspected Anthony might be… “Where are you from?” “Thailand!” Bingo.
Anthony scored Bruno Mars’ XXIVK Magic and told me he was debating between this and one other record, but I’m failing to recall who it was, adding that he really loved one song on that record, but that he loved all of the songs on this record. Funny how that is about LPs, loving one or several songs more than others. Back in the day of singles, you might be able to just get the song you want, and nowadays you can of course just download the one song, but there is something to be said about a song in its place in a collection of other songs…
Anyway, before we said goodbye, I mentioned to Anthony about my Thai friend, Go, and how he plays in a rather huge band T-Bone, who all Thai people seem to know whenever I ask and he was quite surprised to hear that I knew them. I would LOVE to get one of their LPs. Anthony, if you ever score a T-Bone LP, and you want to trade it for something here, let’s stay in touch!
