Happy Father’s Day and hope you’re having a nice weekend !
It’s a good reminder of what I put people through for Tokyo Record Style to get in front of the camera myself, this time from Tokyo Record Style Day Volume 8 at Garageville in Tstujigaoka several weeks back. On this day I scored a reggae and rocksteady compilation that I had been eye-balling for a while, with a couple of early Wailers tunes on it including their version of Bob Dylan’s Like a Rolling Stone. Plus the cover features a really old photo of Bob, Bunny, and Peter looking sharp.
I also scored a copy of my hometown hero Leon Russel’s self-titled solo debut from 1972 which contains contributions from George Harrison, Clapton, Delaney and Bonnie, Klaus Voormann, Bill Wyman, Steve Winwood, and Joe Cocker, among others, and, which I surprisingly didn’t have. It was too cheap to pass up so I had to bring it home with me.
Finally I am VERY proudly holding one of only a few CD single released by one of my all-time favorite bands, Phish. This CD single was from 1996, made in Germany, and likely released only in Europe for one of their two upcoming tours there. It contains tracks from my favorite albums of theirs, Billy Breathes from 1996, including the cathartic bombast that doubles as a monster show opener* Free, followed by track 2, what one could argue would be their most fitting theme song, the tune “Theme From The Bottom”. The CD single is closed with track 3, a song that was not only left off the album, but a version of it that it a fairly far departure of what the song has become over the years. My bro in Phish pal Michael brought this for me to soak up and I am very glad to be showing it on TRS. Thanks for checking out my scores (and thanks for the photos Bryce and Michael)
